Should I suggest that my parents have my younger sister committed?

For as long as I can remember my sister has been a drama queen. The main problem is that she refuses to take responsibility for the messes she creates and instead blames others or makes other excuses. She also routinly re-invents history to suit whatever her particular means at the moment are.

Over the years this habit of blaming others has changed from blaming her "evil big sister" to the more recent development of stating that she has mental problems and that others are out to sabotage her life. Several years ago I managed to persuade her to go to a psychiatrist but she stopped the sessions when it was suggested that her actions might be contributing to her problems. Since then she has vowed to never go back.

Tonight our conversation took on a darker tone. She lamented that she is unable to trust anyone, including her family. This was brought about by a recent trip in which her companions "ditched" her. All I know is her side of the story so I cannot state whether they did or not.

Tonight during our conversation she stated:

- She has trust issues (everyone apparently stabs her in the back but that is their fault and not her own)
- Everything in her life goes wrong
- she states she "knows" she has a mental condition

-and the most disturbing one is that she thinks about killing people,

While I know she is a drama queen and that she most likely is saying this in order to get a rise out of me, I can't help but be concerned that she is making a cry for help.

Any suggestions on what I should do?

Is she supported by your parents? You? Is anyone in a position to get her on a hold?

Stop enabling her. Slap her upside the head and tell her to grow the he'll up, then go live your own life-- which is too damn short to deal with people like that. She's full of shit and lying to get attention and to have someone else take care of her.

Having had far too much experience with an ex-stepdaughter who was much like your sister, there is no way to deal with this. She's going to have to seek help on her own. Best thing to do is to remove yourself from her entirely.

or,

Drathus: Drink. Heavily.

Keep yourself from being entangled (despite the fact that she's your sister). If she threatens herself or others, you'll have solid grounds to have her examined by a shrink en route to being committed, but otherwise...Drathus's advice rings true.

Sounds like your sister isn't "crazy" she's an asshole.

I told you not to tell anyone bitch. If you talk to mom and dad you'll be the first one to go
