I have these tiny little bugs in my house that are biting the crap out of me

They are probably getting my cats, too, although I'm not certain.

They're tiny, oblong little things. The obvious guess is fleas, but they don't look exactly like the pictures of cat fleas I see online. Are there any other bugs they could be?

fleas don't all look like the pictures. there are also long ones.

just get everyone (family and pet) into the same room, and set off a bug bomb or two. It'll end all your problems.
